Trail Bento

We like to make our own trail mix - its an excuse to shop at Bulk Barn, and its only full of things we like. Ron was putting together our latest batch, and he added the dried kiwi slice - pointing out that it was almost as pretty as bento. I'm so incredibly proud. (For those interested, the trail mix contains pecans, macadameia nuts, raisins, craisins (strawberry and raspberry flavoured), peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, chocolate covered ju-jubes and a dried kiwi slice).

What does dried kiwifruit taste like? Fresh kiwi makes my tongue burn, so I don't like it.

Dried kiwi tastes like candy. No tongue burning from what I can tell. Just sugary sweetness. We also tried dried strawberries for the first time this week - they taste like jujubes!

Oh god, we used to eat dried strawberries all the time in Vietnam, they were the fuel that kept the language link teacher's room running, that and "Commando Bear" energy drink and Vinataba cigarettes.

I've always wondered: why get dried cranberries that don't taste like dried cranberries? Is it worth it?

Dried cranberries are like more awesome raisins, and the flavours just add to the variety. The man loooooves them.
